The Chocolate Works Care Village is housed in the former headquarters of the world-renowned Terry’s of York chocolate factory. This landmark building is Grade II listed and after a number of years lying unused and unloved has been brought back to life through the extraordinary vision of Springfield Healthcare CEO Graeme Lee and his extensive team of architects (Norr), builders (Simpsons of York) and restoration specialists.
Walk through our main entrance to be greeted by the breathtakingly beautiful original staircase and glass domed ceiling over our reception area, then take a walk down our reminiscence corridor which hosts the story of Terry’s and sets the scene before you enter our bustling 450sqm market square.
The market square quite simply brings the outside in with its stunning natural daylight, trees, shop, café, spa, even its own pub! And at night the ambience changes with mood lighting and fairy lights. Overlooking the market square is the mezzanine area sitting beneath the vast glazed roof, the perfect space to sit back, relax and watch the activity below. Alternatively take part in any of the multitude of activities on offer from our experienced and caring wellbeing and activities team.
With 82 individually designed care suites and 8 fabulous apartments and as much or as little care as you need, tailored to your specific requirements by our experienced and dedicated team, The Chocolate Works Village, York really is something very special indeed.
“It’s the small things that make a difference … every staff member looks clean and smart, and when I ask them to do something specific for mum they always make sure that it is done …. “Mrs Flower
